at 11 a.m. the religious procession from the Monastery to local Jordan river (Istra) starts...
В 11 часов утра начинается крестный ход от Монастыря до местного Иордана - Истры...


... where the liturgy takes place.

Then the priest consecrates the river, three times throwing the cross into it.
Потом священник освящает воду троекратным окунанием в нее креста.




Then he congratulates the religious on Epiphany splashing the holy water over them.
Затем он поздравляет верующих с Крещением Господним обрызгивая их святой водой.


And the Epiphany bathing starts. Some people only wash their hands, but the brave ones jump into the river...
И начинаются Крещенские купания. Некоторые только моют руки, а самые смелые ныряют в реку...


...although the water temperature is only +5 Celsius

By the tradition they should three times dive crossing themselves. My unknown colleague was shooting that exciting moment from the water.
По традиции они должны три раза окунуться с головой. Мой неизвестный коллега снимал этот волнующий момент из воды.


Usually it looks more beautiful, because there should be the snow all around...
Обычно все намного красивей, потому что все должно быть в снегу...
